The Stork Pass scheme for pets is back!
We are happy to tell you that the scheme for stork pass holders with pets is back!
To promote animal welfare, the municipality of The Hague offers for the Hague residents with a valid Stork Pass to receive a pet veterinary fee allowance.
This scheme offers an allowance of €300 to per household per calendar year. This only covers treatments for chipped pets.
For the following preventive treatments, Stork Pass holders 100% can get discounts until the maximum amount of the allowance is reached:
- Consultation by appointment
- Vaccination
- Chipping
- Castration
- Sterilisation
- Euthanasia
For the following treatments, Stork Pass 50% holders can get discounts until the maximum amount of the allowance is reached:
- Medically necessary treatment
- Medicine costs for chronic illness
All costs of treatments exceeding the maximum awardable amount of €300 will be borne by the Stork Pass holder.
How do I qualify for this allowance?
- You live in The Hague
- You possess a valid Stork pass
- You are 18 years or older
- You have a pet(s)

Key points:
- You will bring your stork pass and identification with you on each visit
- You may not give the stork card to someone else
- The reimbursement is 300 euros per household per year; even if you have more than 1 animal, or more people in the family have a stork pass, the reimbursement remains a maximum of 300 euros per year
- Each animal for which the fee is used must have a chip.
- Own contribution; that part of the treatment that is not covered by the stork pass fee, or amounts go above the maximum fee 300 euros, should be paid by the animal owner immediately after treatment.
- In case of doubt, or malfunction of the system, you may have to advance the full amount first.
